About the Camellia Symphony Orchestra

The Camellia Symphony Orchestra (CSO), now entering its 54th Season, is the longest continuously running orchestra in Sacramento. This is the result of its high level of artistic performance and presentation of inspiring, innovative, and attractive programs. CSO presents four subscription concerts and three free family concerts and outreach programs each season. Our 54th season highlights include: Sibelius Violin Concerto, Tchaikovsky 5th Symphony, Beethoven 5th Symphony, Shostakovich 5th Symphony, and “Petrouchka.” Maestro Christian Baldini has served as our Music Director since 2012. He works regularly with the San Francisco Symphony, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Buenos Aires Philharmonic, National Symphony of Portugal and Argentina, and BBC Symphony in London. We are comprised of professional and high level volunteer players, and are proud to be serving the vital cultural needs of our entire region with excellence and passion.

To sign up for an audition, contact our Personnel Manager:

Paolo Reyes at or (209) 914-3597.

The CSO holds official auditions at the beginning and end of each season:

In the Spring (usually within a month after our last subscription concert). At this time we audition those who joined the orchestra during the season on an interim basis, in order to complete the seating process within the sections. We also audition individuals who are interested in open Principal positions – if there are any open Principal positions at this time.

In the Fall (usually less than one week before our first rehearsal for the first subscription concert).  At this time we audition any musicians who wish to join the orchestra (if there are open positions) and anyone interested in auditioning for a sub-list/auxiliary position. In unusual cases we will audition for a Principal chair at this time – if there are any open Principal positions at this time.
