A Word from Maestro Baldini

Dear Music Lovers in Sacramento and Beyond,

It is my great pleasure to introduce to you our 51st Season. It is a season filled with great masterworks. You will forget about the world for a few hours and fly away with extraordinary performances of Beethoven's beloved Ninth (Choral) Symphony, Elgar's mesmerizing Enigma Variations, Bartok's powerful Concerto for Orchestra and Stravinsky's most imaginative suite, from the ballet The Firebird. There will be plenty of variety, music from all over the planet, folk-inspired tunes, rare instruments such as Piazzolla's favorite (the Bandoneon) and one US première of a work by Juan Manuel Abras (Argentina), which received the prestigious Reinl-Stiftung Composition Award in Austria in 2002.

In addition to this, I assure you that you will be blown away by the absolutely outstanding, world-class soloists that we will be featuring. You will have the chance to meet these soloists at our concerts, hear them talk about their passion for music and get to know more about who they are and which kind of interests they have. I am very excited to share with you music which is very close to my heart, and to present to you these wonderful human beings, whose souls sing like virtuosic birds.
