Auditions for the upcoming season were held in June. Stay tuned for additional audition opportunities in the fall.

Requirements
Auditions are brief and informal. Applicants can perform any music of their choice, ideally two contrasting works (fast and slow, from either solo or orchestral repertoire) that demonstrate both technical facility and musicianship. Auditions are generally 10 minutes in length.

About the Camellia Symphony Orchestra 

The Camellia Symphony Orchestra (CSO), entering its 63rd season, is the longest continuously operating orchestra in Sacramento. This is the result of its high level of artistic performance and presentation of inspiring, innovative and attractive programs. CSO presents six subscription concerts and occasional free family concerts and outreach programs each season.

Maestro Christian Baldini has served as Music Director since 2012. He works regularly with international orchestras such as the Noord Nederlands Orkest, Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie, San Francisco Symphony, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, English National Opera, Buenos Aires Philharmonic, National Symphony of Portugal, Chile and Argentina, and BBC Symphony in London.

We are comprised of professional and high level volunteer players, and are proud to be serving the vital cultural needs of our region with excellence and dedication.

Audition cycle

The CSO holds official auditions at the beginning and end of each season:

In the spring (usually within a month after our last subscription concert). At this time we audition those who joined the orchestra during the season on an interim basis, in order to complete the seating process within the sections. We also audition individuals who are interested in open Principal positions, if there are any open Principal positions.

In the fall (usually less than one week before our first rehearsal for the first subscription concert).  At this time we audition any musicians who wish to join the orchestra (if there are open positions) and anyone interested in auditioning for a sub-list/auxiliary position. In unusual cases we will audition for a Principal chair at this time, if there are any open Principal positions.
