Conductor
Allan Pollack, music director and conductor for the Camellia Symphony Orchestra.
Dr. Allan Pollack brings extensive experience and knowledge of the classical music world to the Camellia Symphony Orchestra. Dr. Pollack earned a PhD in composition from UC Berkeley in 1983 where he was an adjunct professor in the Department of Music. He has written several large compositions for orchestra all of which have been performed. His most recent piece is entitled, 3 Generations, for clarinet, synthesizer, and piano, completed in 1999.
Since 1987 he has been Music Director of the Mendocino Music Festival, one of Northern California’s most respected summer festivals, and since 1989 Artistic Director of the Symphony of the Redwoods, an orchestra based in Fort Bragg, California. He has also held conducting positions with the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, San Francisco State University, and the Capp Street Community Music Center. Pollack is also an accomplished jazz saxophone and clarinet player.
Dr. Pollack is looking forward to continuing the mission of the Camellia Symphony Orchestra in adventuresome programming for Sacramento and its surrounding areas.
